How do you tell your man you are bored with the relationship?

I have a friend who says she sees her man maybe once or twice a month and when they talk on the phone its always the same old thing. She is getting quite bored with the relationship and has told him so. They may get intimate maybe 2 times a month and they do live in the same city. What should she do? They are very much in love but how do you handle being bored with someone you love?
